Don Droud was as permanent a fixture at Midwest Speedway as it's guardrails. Since the Speedway was brand new, Droud had raced on it. He began with the Track in a Super Modified. He left those to win races in Late Models in the seventies here. He didn't stop running Open Wheel then...and was here in a Caged Sprint. And during the eighties he was expected here every night.
