Joseph Keith Wade became "Smokin'" Joe Wade during a Late Model race in 1978 while circling the fairgrounds in David City. Sadly, it wasn't for his merits, but for the fact he had a valve cover leaking badly. The ensuing smoke began a moniker that last till this very day. Everywhere he goes, he is known as "Smokin'" Joe. He began his racing career right here at Midwest Speedway in 1969...the same year the Track began to feature Late Models. More on Joe Wade coming soon!
